Threads of Sumba

Local villagers in Sumba, Indonesia produce high quality hand woven textiles. This weaving is a very intricate process and these textiles have been made with much love. Patterns vary from family to family and are handed down the generations.

These textiles are purchased directly from the weavers in Sumba, directly supporting the family's small businesses and also encouraging them to continue the tradition of weaving.

Many families subsist on the produce of their gardens and barter with their neighbours.

Cotton textiles provide the cash income to cover taxes, school fees, and medical expenses.
